Hodges Gardens
Directly across from Emerald
Hills Golf Resort is the front gate beyond which
lies the famous Hodges Gardens State Park.
Over700 acres of wild and cultivated beauty, Hodges
Gardens State Park is a unique member of the State
Parks system. Originally designed and opened to the
public in 1956 by oil and gas businessman A.J. Hodges
Sr., the site's gardens consist of a variety of plants
and flowers, from a formal rose garden to a collection
of Japanese Red Maple trees."
Historic Natchitoches is a bustling tourist
delight, full of Creole influences and friendly
people.
Just one hour from Emerald
Hills Resort is the thirty-three block Historic District
of Natchitoches, with more than fifty, centuries-old
buildings, it has beendesignated a National Historic
Landmark. The mercantile buildings and homes with
the cast iron grillwork galleries overlooking Cane
River Lake are reminiscent of the days of the Cotton
Kingdom and Natchitoches' old Emerald Hills Attractionriver
port. Townhouses along Front Street served as second

In December. Downtown is converted into a fairyland
of multi-colored lights and accentuated by magnificient
fireworks each Saturday of the month. The "City

Toledo Bend
With a population of over
300 pounds of game fish per acre, the largest man-made
reservoir in the South is only minutes away. Whether
it's fishing or unlimited access to fun-filled
water sports, boat rentals and fishing guides are
readily available.
Kisatchie National Forest
The Kisatchie National Forest
offers picnic areas, group use areas, swimming
beaches, boat landings and several places of special
interest including trails and auto tours. Some
of these areas require special care and protection
for their outstanding botanic, geologic, historic
or scenic qualities. The Kisatchie also offers
a wilderness area, a national wild and scenic river
and many acres of undeveloped forest land.
